Wholesale Furniture: 5 Professional Layout Tips

When you think of decorating a reception area you have to put a good deal of thought into the designing procedure. The most essential thing to keep in mind is that you wish this area to relate to those who are waiting but you also wish to make it shout wonderful things about your place and how much you respect your customers. There are some things you should attempt to offer when furnishing the wholesale furniture (you bought) in your waiting area. You will come across some far-fetched insight into the décor of an appropriate waiting room below.
Keep it comfy
You want to give a relaxed place for your customers to wait. If they are going to be tolerant enough to hang around then you have to provide a contented environment for them to do so. This means supplying seating, possibly some form of amusement, magazines, and activity for kids that may be with them. You specially have to provide entertainment for the kids if your business is child focused. This will make the wait more relaxed for everyone involved. When it comes to the furniture especially you have to take care that it provides relaxed seating essentially. The longer the usual wait the more relaxed you wish the seating to be.
Coordinate
If style and plan are essential for you and you possibly wouldn't be reading the article if it isn't, then you should take great pains to ensure that your furniture selections synchronize well with the wall colors, ceiling, carpeting, and artwork. You will see that a reception area is much less relaxed when the pieces of furniture and art don’t match finely with one another to give a proper wholesale furniture layout. It is worth taking a bit spare time to find everything in coherence before making the final decision to purchase any of these features together. If there is one piece of furniture that you must have in that area then that is the piece that you will have to ensure works with all the rest. Take it with you whenever you observe furniture, blinds, and artwork. This plain act alone can save you precious time and cash and help make a reception area that is well-furnished and well designed together.
Versatility
If you wish to find the most value for the money spent for your wholesale furniture then you have to get coordinating seating that is useful, sturdy, comfy, and versatile. Keep this in mind when you go to buy wholesale furniture. Reception areas are often multi-used. You have to set furniture for your reception area that is appropriate for all your needs particular to that place. One method of doing this is by selecting furniture that can be effortlessly moved and reorganized and having emergency furniture supplying for those times when you need spare seating. The more the choices for the reception area that your furniture allows while giving the same standards of design and excellence you imagine, the better it is.
Consult a Designer
There are engineers who will do discussions regarding how to arrange the wholesale furniture without doing the entire styling for you. This is a money saving method to get brilliant advice about designing, and the demonstration of space without spending a lot of money hiring a designer. If you are having difficulties in your design plans or truly need something stunning so as to give your customers a passionate look of your hotel, then you just might profit greatly from using this crucial tool for furnishing your reception area and to conceive ideas about the furnishings for this place.
Reception areas can speak lots of nice things about your business. Regrettably, most businesses use out of date design and old-fashioned furniture for these areas, particularly when they stuff it with wholesale furniture. You need to wow potential customers with stylish, graceful, and comfy reception furniture rather than putting them to snooze like the competition.

MLM Common Objection 1: Is Network marketing Immoral or Illegal?

For some people Network Marketing is viewed as immoral or even illegal. From time to time is has been likened to pyramid schemes and similar scams, so why is this?
The first thing to remember is that in any industry there are both very good and very bad companies. The same is true of Network Marketing. Anything can be considered to be a scam if the intention is to trick or mislead someone and this is true of every industry. If the question is “have people been scammed in Network Marketing?” then the answer would be yes, but this would have been due to the actions of a particular individual or company and not the industry itself. On the other hand, if the questions was: “are there Network Marketing companies who have the highest integrity, are open about their operations and do not scam people?” Then the answer is absolutely yes!
It is my understanding that for the majority of people who see Network Marketing as immoral, it is generally because they are fearful that it is a scam, or they worry that they will have to trick people to be successful for themselves. .
To address the issue of whether Network Marketing is an illegal pyramid I would like to draw on a few useful resources. Firstly, I would like to educate you about an organisation called the Direct Selling Association (DSA). The DSA is responsible for regulating the Direct Selling and Network Marketing industries to ensure that only legitimate companies are trading.
So, what constitutes an illegal pyramid? The DSA assesses a Network Marketing company on two criteria when determining their legitimacy. The first question relates to whether an Associate risks huge financial loss by participating in the business. If you do not receive products and business tools / services for the money you are investing then this should ring alarm bells in your head! The second question relates to whether an individual’s commissions are directly linked to the volume of product moving through the organisation. Can you earn commission without any product moving through your organisation? If so, then this could be considered as an illegal pyramid.
So, if the question is “have so called Network Marketing companies been responsible for operating an illegal pyramid?” then the answer would once again be yes, with this being due to the actions of a dubious company with little integrity. This would also be classified as a scam as the intention will be to trick and mislead people. If the question was “are all Network Marketing companies illegal pyramids?” then the answer would obviously be no!
My advice would be to ensure that the company you are currently representing, or considering representing, is recognised by the DSA and adheres to all of the policies.

Contract School Seating: Make Sure It Will Last!

Every school year you are faced with the challenge of operating within tighter and tighter budgets. Contract school seating takes an enormous bite out of that budget, so it is important to make sure that you do not have to constantly replacing your seating. Before making a commitment of this size, make sure you are selecting contract school seating that will give you the best return on your investment by doing some research. And make sure you know how to make your investment last a long time.
This means that before committing to contract school seating, you conduct a thorough search of the options that are available to you. You should be well informed about the kind of seating that is best for your students, your classrooms, and the learning environment you want to promote.
No matter what you select, the seating is going to be used frequently and take a lot of abuse. It is also important to consider that you leave it in storage for long periods of time when it is not needed.
To make the most out of your contract school seating budget, it is your responsibility to make sure that the furniture you select is durable, made to last and that you commit to a diligent maintenance schedule to make sure it stands up to daily wear and tear and lasts for a long time.
Select contract school seating that is built to last.
Contract school seating today is available in a variety of materials including wood, steel, plastic, aluminum, and pipe and even finished furniture. You should select materials that are low maintenance and look good without any additional decoration.
The best way to know if the material will stand the test of time is to do your research and order some samples to try out before committing to a full order of contract school seating.
If you are considering wood, remember that spilled water or other liquids can ruin the wood or damage it which shortens its life. It is also easier for wood to become scratched, which many times is not accidental when it is used by students. Wood should only be cleaned with cotton cloth, and should be cleaned on a daily basis. It also needs to be polished and refinished at least once a year.
Consider modular furniture for a long life.
Contract school seating is available in modular and adjustable varieties. You should consider selecting modular or adjustable seating if you want to make your school seating last.
Modular seating allows you to be able to use the same furniture for more years instead of having to change it out every year or two to adjust to your growing students. It can also be adjusted to the height of students, meaning it has the flexibility to serve your students well for a longer period of time.
Committing to a diligent maintenance schedule will extend the life of your contract school seating.
If you are considering school seating made from wood, remember that it requires regular polishing and refinishing which can take a lot of time and money. If you are not prepared to commit to this kind of regular maintenance, your furniture will suffer.
If you use upholstered school seating, the best way to make them last longer is to have them regularly reupholstered. This not only provides a fresh look, they will be more comfortable to sit in.
If your school seating looks battered and old, the best way to get more years out of it is with a fresh coat of paint. If the wood has scratches of the student handiwork variety or of the accidental variety, simply sand off the finish, sand down the scratches and polish it to give it a fresh look. You can use scratch filler to fill in the scratches before repainting your seating and you will not only give your furniture a completely fresh look, you will get more years out of it.
No matter what kind of material you choose for contract school seating, it is important to commit to a regular cleaning and maintenance routine in order to make it last.
Armed with the right knowledge and a commitment to maintenance, you can stretch your contract school seating budget and make your seating last for many years of learning.

Typist Jobs - Another Scam or Legit Home Typing Job?

Typist Jobs is another one of those "Data Entry" type programs which basically involve ad placing. Surprisingly this site has been around for awhile and has not had too many reviews. So I went ahead and took the initiative to check them out and see what they're about.
Typist Jobs is owned by Ruth Cleven. Another one of those guru marketers who offer affiliate training. However, When looking into the program I did notice some things different from your typical data entry jobs. Ruth Cleven does not take the typical approach of promoting "Adwords" or ppc campaigns. She actually shows you several other free and low cost ways to do affiliate marketing which is ad placing. This is actually the first company I've seen do this.
I think it's a great idea to disgard PPC because Google Adwords is just too hard to
learn for anyone that is new to the internet." I honestly don't know why most
companies would use it when they know there are tons of other ways to do this type of job without having to spend an arm and a leg on advertising.
Typist Jobs starts you off with free ad placements and they have you slowly work
your way up to other means little by little, but in the mean time you are still
making some pretty decent money.
Typist Jobs has a one time fee of $49.95 and with that you receive personal
training, your own members area access and step by step online tutorials
hand written by Ruth Cleven. The instructions are fairly simple to follow and you
can start working as soon as you become a member of the Typist jobs program.
Income from this program ranges from $200 and up per day depending on he or shes level of understanding and consistency with their work. Typist Jobs is actually a great opportunity, not a scam at all, so I give them a thumbs up for being original
in their own right.

Cheap Cell Phones Are Everywhere ...

It's very difficult to find a cost efficient cell phone service isn't' it? The problem for most is that they go searching for cell phones but they never think about the plan they are getting wrapped into. Most new users never really think about what plan best suits them, which one will provide you with the best options for their lifestyle? Finding a proper plan is something people need to pay more attention to when looking for a cell phone.
we all know there are lots of pretty cell phones out there:
Camera Cell Phones,GPS Cell Phones. for example
It's buzzirk the number of options out there. It's easy to see why we get dazzled into all the extra features - the phones now a day are awesome
The point of this article is to discuss the cheap cell phone services that are available to us, so lets talk about the two big money savers out there.
Pre-Paid Cell Phone Plans
If you plan on being a casual user, then this is the best option for you, no question about it But it's much more expensive then regular plans, but our action item is to keep your cost at a level that's comfortable for you, and with this cell phone plan - you can keep your budget at a fixed cost.
Features include:
oNo contract to be signed
oNo service fee
oNo credit checks
oNo deposit required
oNo penalties
Pre paid cell phones are just as good as any of the other phones as well - they make calls and you if you like you can take pictures. What more do you need? But don't forget - you will pay more, if you start sending pictures and making txts on a regular basis you can use up your pre-paid plan pretty quick - Prepaid can get expensive if you're not carefullThis will be more expensive then with a regular plan. create a budget and stick to it
What about these Voip Phones?
Voice over IP cell phones or (vo-ip) as people call them is starting to really ramp up. If you can find one then these will be your best option.
voice over IP allows your phone to leverage the internet, making cell phone plans dirt cheap. There are a couple providers out there who offer this service. You can usually get service like:
- Unlimited Voice / Data Transfer / Texting / Internet (24/7)
- Unlimited Calling to the US and Canada
- No Roaming or setup fees.
The cost is usually under 100 dollars!
However they are hard to come by and these service providers are usually for the higher end users who will exceed 100 dollars a month in spending.
The reason for the lowered cell phone plan costs is the providers just don't have crazy buzzirk costs associated with their business: reduced office space, overhead, employees, they just leverage the already existing internet! The saving is then passed down to you and I making us very happy.
The Cell Phone Plan Checklist
The cell phone plans are the most crucial factor when deciding to buy a cell phone. Ensure that before you make a commitment that may cost you a fortune, ask yourself the following questions:
- Will this phone be used for business purposes?
- Do I plan on keeping in touch with family/friends using my cell phone?
- Will I use my cell phone during working hours ie: before 5:00?
- Will I be checking email on my cell phone?
- Am I interested in txting?
- Will you be travelling with your phone?
BE HONEST
Be honest, if not you're plan will double before you can even say "OH MY!" Make your decision wisely, because you will be stuck in the contact for a while and that means a minimum charge will hit you every month - or find a voip provider that you can plug into and use! My best advice is to never get locked into any of the features they offer you for 6 months to try it out - They offer that for a reason...
In summary? If you want to remain on a fixed budget - use a pre-paid cell phone. If you are a regular or a power user, see if you can get a voip cell phone in your area.

C.O.B.R.A. Health assurance vs Family and/or Individual Medical insurance

Even though COBRA insurance is a good option for a lot of people, people often take their C.O.B.R.A. option when it's not the best deal. If compared to family or individual health insurance, C.O.B.R.A. can cost more than other options, it can end too early and it may put someone else in control of your policy.
COBRA is often too pricey
C.O.B.R.A. is s short-term solution
COBRA is under someone else's control
COBRA is often too expensive
The COBRA law gives you the right to be covered by a group insurance policy. One of the biggest misconceptions people have about medical coverage is that group coverage policies are less costly than private health Insurance policies that you can buy on your own. While this is sometimes true, it isn't usually. In a lot of states, medical care insurance costs more if purchased through an employer.
This is because of the cost of governmental mandates that apply to group medical care insurance policies that don't apply to individual or family health assurance policies. A company offering a group coverage policy may have to offer a policy to anyone regardless of their medical care history. insurance companies cannot drop an insured person from their family and/or individual healthcare Insurance plan simply because their medical care has gotten worse since they applied, but they won't take new people with pre-existing conditions. This may mean that the insurance company's costs are much higher for their group insurance policies than for their individual medical care assurance policies.
You may be offered the group insurance policy that you had before your job concluded or if your company has made changes in the policies they offer to their current employees, it may be a different medical policy.
C.O.B.R.A. is s short-term solution
In most situations, C.O.B.R.A. may be kept for a maximum of 18 months, however in certain situations, this time period may be extended to 36 months. This can mean that your coverage may be over when you need it the most. A good individual and/or family medical care Insurance plan can cover you until you reach the age of 65.
You may be healthy enough to qualify for a long-term medical coverage policy when your job ends but not 18 months later. If you or someone in your family contract an illness and/or have trauma that prevents you from buying a plan at the end of your C.O.B.R.A. eligibility
COBRA is under someone else's control
When you mail in your COBRA payments, you don't send them directly to your insurer. Although this happens rarely, sometimes companies will take your money and never pay the insurance company.
If your company changes the plans that are offered to their current employees, they may also change the plans available to those eligible for medical care coverage because they have taken the COBRA option. This can mean that your policy may not cover you as well as it used to. You might suddenly be in the position of having a high-priced plan that no longer covers you well.
Scenarios where C.O.B.R.A. is better than family and/or individual medical insurance:
If COBRA is much less costly than a individual and/or family Insurance plan
A individual and/or family health insurance policy isn't available to you
You're assured a healthcare coverage plan before your COBRA eligibility ends.
There are situations where C.O.B.R.A. might be a better option than a family or individual health Insurance policy. If you can not buy a medical plan on your own at a good rate and you find that your C.O.B.R.A. is being offered at a good price C.O.B.R.A. may be your best options. This of course is also true if you aren't able topurchase a C.O.B.R.A. plan because of a preexisting health issue. Another situation where C.O.B.R.A. can be a good option is if you will be eligible for Medicare and/or some other healthcare plan before your COBRA eligibility will be over.

Online Coaching for Profit

When you tried your first online venture you were full of happy visions of "swimming pools, movie stars." But as time went by you came to realize you really need a product you own yourself. You've probably spent time trying to find something you can afford to purchase or make. You probably weren't even considering that you already possess a marketable product.
You have one!
Yes, everyone does. What is it? Information! You could be an online coach or mentor. Online coaching for profit is a great method to make some serious cash on the Internet, and it costs very little to get started. How easy would it be to prepare a course based on the knowledge already in your head and teach it online. With today's technology your students don't have to live in you city, your state, or even your country. and you won't have the expense of renting a room to hold your class. You could coach for profit on a website, you could teach using videos, over the phone, with what's become known as a "webinar," (an online seminar), or just coach by sending a meaningful series of emails.
Think about it. Most people use the Internet primarly to find information. Look at Google - they've built a multi-million dollar business around this fact. They've studied and analyzed and theorized until they've become the very best at directing Internet users straight to the information they want. If you're serving up information Google will love you and send you plenty of visitors!
Have you thought of your profitable course yet? Think some more. What can you do well that others might be willing to pay to learn?
Perhaps there's something about your occupation. Are you an html programmer? Do you paint walls? Do you prepare taxes? Do you make furniture? Perhaps you can teach that to people who want to do what you do themselves.
Maybe it's a hobby. Do you do macram?? Make jewelry? Knit? Bake a quiche? Fish for walleye? Lots of people search for hobby information online.
Another way to come up with your expertise is to recognize what people are always asking you for. Maybe you like to help your neighbors paint their homes. Maybe you know how to put in new wood flooring. Have you planned a wedding? Can you get stains out of anything? These are also things that can be taught and you can do it! Simply organize that knowledge onto paper, or video, or audio, or websites, or . . . the sky's the limit!
By now you've probably got a couple ideas. You'll soon think of more. Online coaching for profit is a fun and easy way to make money. Most of your effort is up front when you create your lesson plans. Then you can reuse the course over and over again with new sets of students. You're course will constantly improve as you go along because your students will ask questions. These experiences will become part of your lessons the next time around.
So take those ideas and run with them! Write your lessons and start advertising for people who want to learn about your expertise. Soon you'll not only be making that profit you were looking for, but you'll be having a blast at the same time!

Legal compliance for doing business in india / setup business in India Part 1

India is one of the fastest growing Asian economies of today. It is the hub of global BPO and software industry. Today, more and more companies from around the world are interested in a base in India. This aim of this article is to provide information in brief regarding setup of company and legal requirement for starting a business in India.
The first and foremost thing is setting up/ forming a company in India. Here, an international company has three modes for forming a company in India i.e. opening foreign branch office, open liaison office or register a fully owned foreign subsidiary company. A brief detail of all the three modes is given below:
Liaison Office – This kind of office is setup wherein only liaison work is undertaken by the entity in India and all transactions whether related to Sale/ Purchase/ Provision of any services is undertaken directly by the parent company. Liaison office is not authorized to undertaken any type of commercial activity.
Foreign Brach Office – This kind of office is setup is one step ahead of Liaison Office. In this type of setup trading transactions i.e. sale / purchase of goods is allowed directly by the Foreign Branch Office itself but there are restrictions with regard to manufacturing and provision of services.
Wholly Owned Subsidiary – This type of setup is allowed to undertake all kinds of commercial transaction subject to general or specific restrictions imposed by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) or Foreign Inward Promotion Board (FIPB). They are required to file necessary returns with various taxation and legal authorities as a separate entity from its parent.
After deciding on the mode for forming a company as mentioned above necessary permission of either the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) or Foreign Investment Promotion Board (FIPB) is required. There are certain industries where 100% foreign equity participation are allowed. There is no requirement for permission for them. For others permission is required from either FIPB or RBI before registration
After obtaining permission of Reserve Bank of India (RBI) or Foreign Investment Promotion Board (FIPB) company / branch office / liaison office is required to be registered with the Registrar of Companies under the Companies Act. Various forms and other legal requirements as required under the Companies Act is to be fulfilled before the Registrar of Companies including preparation of Memorandum and Articles of Association. The registrar on being satisfied issues certificate of incorporation and the company comes into existence.
After incorporation the company is required to be registered with various Tax and Legal Authorities to start commencement of business. These registrations range from registration with tax authorities like Income Tax Department, Sales Tax / Vat Department, Excise Department, Customs Department etc. and with other legal authorities like Provident Fund Authority, Employee State Insurance (ESI) Authority etc.
Detailed information for registration with various Tax and Legal Authorities and their Compliances shall be provided in the next part……………….

Cruise Complaints: Service And Tipping

Experienced cruisers or even those who have never cruised themselves, but do so vicariously through sites such as CruiseMates, continue to be surprised by some of the complaints of cruisers. There was the first time cruiser who was absolutely infuriated when he discovered that he had to pay for soft drinks. Other incidents such as having to pay $8.50 for a cocktail or being served lukewarm cold french toast illicit negative complaints and comments.
People making what a lot of us would consider trivial complaints actually become indignant that they had to suffer such lapses. Are such complaints grossly unfair? Probably, but they are not in the least unusual. While similar complaints might be expected from an uninformed first time cruiser, probably more whining comes from seasoned cruisers.
As Catherine Donzel, author of the magnificent book "Luxury Liners," writes, "The same conditions applied on the Queen Mary as on all the other super liners; a grueling eighteen hour work day and a pampered, demanding clientele who were impossible to please. Mr. Bruschi, Cruise Manager of the France summed it up by saying, 'on board ship....everything that is perfect, unique or exceptional is taken for granted as normal by the great majority of passengers....If their breakfast were wafted to them by miniature helicopter they would probably not be particularly impressed....the slightest imperfection, by contrast, is taken as a personal insult, an intolerable omission.'"
Most of the passengers traveling First Class in the days of the luxurious transatlantic liners were equivalent to those flying First Class and who dine in expensive restaurants today.
Nonetheless a lot of the ambiance and perks afforded those on transatlantic sailings from that era are still available to today's cruisers even though many of us (and by that I am including myself) couldn't dream of flying First Class nor of dining at Sardi's. Yet we often find ourselves behaving the same way. Most all of us at one time or another have, as we tend to say in the South, "Gotten a bit above our raisin'."
Another thing hasn't changed all that much and that is the working hours of the crew and staff and in this I'd like to debunk a growing myth. Probably most crew work 12 and often up to 18 hours a day. Many may go weeks without a full day off. And many do it for what the average American would consider abysmal wages. But that certainly is not a recent phenomenon. It has always been the case on passenger liners since passenger ship service began. I have even read where some believe it a crime that what they refer to as worker abuse, should be allowed to exist. They feel that the cruise industry should pay the same wages as here in the United States and afford it's employees similar benefits if ships sail from American ports.
When you tote it all up, a crew member on a cruise ship may in many ways, have it far better than a lot of those in this country who toil at equivalent low paying jobs.
One pundit complained that it was unconscionable that a crew member on a cruise ship should be separated from his/her family for so long. Excuse me, but such has always been true of all those who have chosen a career at sea.
Is such a hue and cry against wages and conditions aboard most cruise ships reasonable? Not really when you think about it. For instance, the Federal Minimum Hourly Wage for a waiter or waitress in this country is $2.15. Yet while certainly not in the majority, there are nonetheless tens of thousands of waiters and waitresses across the country that if given the chance of trading in their $2.15 an hour plus tips for $10 - $12 an hour and no gratuities, would be appalled at the prospect. This is simply because there are more than a few wait staff in this country that make more in one month than many Americans make in six. Although the amounts earned by service personnel on cruise ships undoubtedly don't approach those amounts, their proportionate earnings back in their home countries and because of the low cost of living in many of those countries, often are favorably comparable.
Let's compare tips say, on what dinners at an upscale restaurant on land that is comparable to the gorgeous dining rooms on most cruise ships would cost. Those who dine out understand fact most diners leave a tip ranging from 18 to 20% of the total bill and that tip could easily amount to $20dollars for a dinner for two. That us just one meal. Yet the weekly tip left a waiter following a seven day cruise may be less than the tip left for two evenings of dining out at home and at a level of service that often exceeds that found at home! And don't forget, while cruise ship wait staff work often work all three meals supplying that extremely high level of service at each, the majority of their American land based counterparts at restaurants of a commensurate level usually only work maybe two and usually only one meal a day.
Thousands of Americans are also employed in the cleaning of hotel rooms and bathrooms. While they may very seldom if ever work the long hours as do cabin attendants; in many areas of the country, the pay for this type job when everything is factored in is often not as much as that on a cruise ship.
While the crew on cruise ships may work much longer hours than their counterparts on terra firma, they addtiionally receive the not insignificant benefit of free room and board. Cruise ship crew members also have their own well appointed recreation areas, dining areas and nightclubs right on the ship. They receive free medical care while aboard and most come from countries that don't have income tax.
When I last cruised in June of ?06 (which my wife and I intend to repeat again this June), I made it my point to seek out crew members to learn if they actually did enjoy their jobs and if the fruits they harvested were worth their labor. By reasons of the profession from which I'm retired, I can pretty much tell when someone is trying to pull the wool over my eyes. Yet to an individual, they all said that while yes the work is extremely hard and the hours very long and of course they did so miss their families, their jobs often afforded their families back home a standard of living far higher than the average person. Many in fact, because their expenses are negligible after they complete several contracts (which in the lower paying positions run from six months to as long as a year), can save enough money to actually open their own businesses back home. Such a prospect would have been completely unrealistic had they not obtained their employment on a cruise ship.
Which all boils down to hoiw much to tip. I wouldn't even begin to try to answer that one because the subject is so subjective. In any event, the cruise line will provide a suggested amount. I personally believe that were the service that I received when last I cruised any indication, the amount recommended by the cruise line is to the low side, occasionally even significantly so. But that's me and everyone is different.
When all is said and done however you can be sure of a few things.
1. Crew and staff do work extremely hard at far longer hours than do most of us and are away from their loved ones and family for often six months and sometimes longer.
2. They often are well paid for their efforts when compared to the average wage of their countrymen who may work just as many hours for far less money in surroundings and under conditions that in understatement, are far less favorable than any on a cruise ship.
3. They more than earn even what some would refer to as an extravagant tip.
The level of service one receives on a cruise ship is unparalleled. And that's not just my opinion but the opinion of millions of cruisers everywhere.

What 's You Password?

I recently stumbled across a fascinating report in a trade journal about passwords. I forget the source unfortunately, but it was making the point that surveys proved that most of the population uses the same passwords for accessing protected websites such as online banking, membership sites, subscriptions etc. I wrote some of them down at the time to show you:
password
123456
qwerty
abc123
letmein
password1
firstname
Unbelievable. Well, to me it's unbelievable. Please don't tell me that your favorite password is in this list, I'll be very upset.
There's an important lesson here. You knew there would be, didn't you? This survey provides powerful proof of just how little most people think. After all, how difficult is it to come up with a memorable word that means something special to you, but no one else? Important personal data is at stake in many cases, yet the stats show that the majority of people simply don't think this through. Their choice of password seems to be the first thing that comes into their mind.
It's no wonder that most eBay sellers are people who have defaulted to using just the most basic functions that they already know about. There's no creativity, no thinking outside the box, no challenging norms. Meanwhile people like you and me continue to profit from doing the opposite of the crowd.

Why?

As a kid I'm sure I used to annoy the heck out of my parents and teachers by continually asking ‘why'? I was always deeply inquisitive, and would never take no for an answer. I HAD to have a reason for things.
Studies have shown that giving a reason makes a huge difference in all kinds of situations.
You may have heard of the famous photocopier study by a Harvard psychologist. Forgive me if I mess up the exact details, but the gist of it goes like this… the study was setup so that a person who was waiting to use a photocopier went to the front of the line and said “May I use the copy machine?” About 60% of the time they were allowed to do so. However, when the same person approached and said, “Can I use the photocopier because I'm in a rush” they were allowed to do so 95% of the time. The other individuals standing in line apparently had no problem with the request because a reason was given.

The really interesting thing about the study came about when the person tried the same test a third time. This time, instead of giving a reason that made sense, they simply said, “Can I use the photocopier because I need to make some copies?” In other words, no real reason of any substance was given, BUT the word ‘because' was included in the sentence. Guess what? The result was the same. The person using the copier still happily gave up their place - simply because it sounded like a ‘reason' had been given.
A fascinating study in human behavior I'm sure you'll agree. What's the implication for our eBay business? Simply, you MUST give a reason for every item you sell. Why? Because it makes a huge difference in the mind of the prospective buyer.
In creating listing descriptions we naturally tend to ‘hype' the item and make it sound very desirable. That's fine, but one of the results of doing that is that there's a psychology that goes on in the buyers mind – they say to themselves ‘why is this person selling this item if it's so good?' Valid question isn't it? Can you see why it's so important to give a reason why? And as you've seen, it doesn't really matter what the reason is, as long as it's believable. I'm not suggesting that you lie, but simply that you choose your reason carefully.
“You MUST use ‘Reason Why' in your eBay Listings”
As an example, I recently sold a camera on eBay for a friend of mine. The truth was that he wanted to upgrade to a newer model when that came out, but rather than alerting buyers to the fact that this model was soon to be superseded, he told buyers that he was selling the camera because he hadn't had time to use it, which was also true. I'm confident in saying that that latter ‘reason why' was much better received. Is all this somewhat manipulative? Yes, it is. Selling is manipulative. It's all about persuading people to take an action you want them to take rather than leaving things to chance or letting others have more influence over your prospective customers. As long as you're being honest and up front you have nothing to worry about. What we're doing is mastering the art of using words that sell. In this example, the word ‘because' makes a tremendous difference. Fortunately we don't have to go through the trial and error of guesswork, or invest thousands in controlled studies – that's already been done for us. All we have to do is apply the results.

A.L.O Technique - Audio Messages in my eBay Listings

A.L.O. is a term I coined (deliberately similar in style to S.E.O.) which stands for ‘Auction Listing Optimization'. It can be defined as ANYTHING you can do within the eBay environment that increases the number of buyers, or that prompts buyers to go directly to your website. Each month I discuss an A.L.O. technique that you can implement in your eBay business…

I've been using audio messages in my eBay listings for years. I can't understand why anyone would not use this technology to improve their marketing.
I'll explain why should you include voice in your listings?
For one thing, whether we acknowledge it or not, we all crave human interaction on some level, even online. When potential customers hear a warm, friendly, helpful tone, that helps to persuade them to buy from you.

Having a message play automatically when a customer loads your listing (or website page) also helps to ‘hook' them or draw them in. Few people will click away while a message is playing - they want to hear what you have to say.
Audio messages also give you another way to describe your product or service effectively. We all respond to different methods of communication differently, so it's wise to include this option that will appeal to a proportion of buyers.
And if you really believe you've got nothing worthwhile to say in describing the benefits of the item, or the benefits of buying from you (which I find hard to believe), why not consider using an audio message of compiled customer comments, so new customers can listen to other ‘real people' heaping praise on your product, service, or even your customer service. That's very powerful! Incidentally, if you're concerned about HOW to do this, don't worry. Honestly, it's very easy. If you can copy and paste, you can do it.
The tool that made it super easy for me is called ‘AuctionAudio.net' – it's a website with step by step instructions on exactly what to do. You can even call a telephone number they give you to record your message.
You should script your message carefully. You only get one shot at persuading potential customers, so don't leave it to chance. But when you read the script, make sure it sounds natural. That may take some practice.
Some people go as far as having a professional voiceover artiste record their message, but I advise against that on eBay. Why? Because it goes against the spirit of eBay, which is to champion the little guy and shun the big corporations. However, by all means use a professional for your website. Visitors to your site expect a clear, quality voice. I'm not saying it should be slick, but it shouldn't be amateurish either.

Does Your Message Match Your Market?

Does Your Message Match Your Market?
Dan Kennedy eloquently states a key principle in marketing by referring to the ‘message to market match'. Let's review this important concept.
Firstly, let's break it down. Your ‘message' is WHAT you tell the customer to persuade them to buy your product or service. Incidentally, don't confuse the message with the media or medium used to ‘transport' the message, such as an eBay listing, a classified ad, a yellow pages ad, a website page etc.
The ‘market' is your audience of customers. Your current or future potential buyers. So the marketing message you put out should be a good fit with your audience of buyers.
Sometimes it's more instructive to learn from the wrong way of doing this than the right, so let's do that.
In preparing this article I had to look no further than my computer screen. I use a piece of software called ‘WinAmp' to play MP3's on my computer, and this is how the screen looks when that application is open:

Now, you should know that in order to buy the full version of WinAmp I had to submit my full contact details, and WinAmp knows when I'm online because it verifies that I'm a paid user when I open it up, and then the software displays ads. If you're one step ahead you'll have noticed the ad that was showing as I was preparing this article. Look again at the screenshot. It's for tampax, the feminine hygiene product! Like I said, WinAmp KNOWS my profile, KNOWS I'm male, and yet they still display an ad for Tampax. Actually, the fault here might lie with the makers of Tampax because they should have demanded demographic targeting. That ad should obviously only be shown to women, and an ad that matches the male audience should have been shown to me. Inexcusable for a company like that.
That was a prime example of NOT matching the message to the market. I'm not a customer for Tampax, nor will I ever be one, but Tampax still wasted money trying to market to me.
Can you see why this is such an important concept?
So how can we apply message to market match on eBay? Well, firstly you need to have identified who you're ideal customer is. Where do they live, what income bracket are they in, what age range do they fall in - basically you need to find out as much as possible about them.
I know what you're thinking – it's not possible to narrow it down like that. Yes, it is. Admittedly, it IS impossible to pigeon hole ALL your customers, so we're simply looking for the overall demographic, the average buyer. There will always be variations. But we're looking for the similarities among the majority. To get this information you can conduct a survey (try surveymonkey), analyze existing statistical data (enlist the help of your local librarian), or simply use what you already know from your personal interaction with customers over a period of time.
Armed with that information of who your typical customer is, your message should be written with that person in mind. The writing style should match what that person would expect to receive. If they expect formal, write formally. If they expect casual, write casually. If they're in an industry or club that uses its own language or jargon, identify yourself as one of them by including language that proves that. If you sound like an outsider, you'll be treated like one – and your message will be rejected.
If you know your audience finds it difficult to understand complicated terminology, then dumb it down for them. There's nothing wrong with that. After all, it's not about what's good for you – it's what will work for THEM. Don't get precious or protective with your writing when creating the marketing message. Lastly, make sure the keywords you choose for your title attract the right type of customer, and that the category you choose does the same. Those choices do make a difference. You can see that this is somewhat of an advanced strategy, but the fundamental concept is a simple one – your marketing message MUST appeal to your target audience. There isn't an ad agency in the world that hasn't made this mistake, so it's a good reminder to us all.

Human Cuisine

The Greeks termed it "anthropophagy;" most of the rest of the world refers to it as "cannibalism." Yet, almost all of society practices denial when it comes to dining on people. Animals? No problem. People? A large problem!
Co-editors, Ken Albala, a professor of European history at the University of the Pacific and Gary Allen food writer and author, co-opted earlier on their compilation, The Business of Food: Encyclopedia of Food and Drink Industries in 2007. They term the book's Table of Contents, "Menu." Short biographies of each writer are found in a section titled, The Kitchen Staff.
Ken Albala, Gary Allen and Surge Publishing have graciously come up with a cannibalism platform for 21 writers, some scholars, others professionals, writers, practitioners and interested persons who have taken varying looks at the seemingly forbidden topic. In the collection, the reader will find storytelling, essays, poetry and drama at times taunting the reader, fascinating others. The topics conjure up clever, extenuating circumstances from weird amuse bouches to the tongue-in-cheek simplicity for some grizzly delicacies.
Ken Albala breaks the ice early with a quotation from the well-admired James Beard, who once said, "I believe that if I had to practice cannibalism, I might manage if there were enough tarragon around."
Frequently, between the works of the different writers, both editors lighten things up with cannibalistic recipes, not too extreme and not tested. After the fascinating story, The Watchman's Secret," they intervene with recipes for Andes Mints, a layered affair of thinly-sliced soccer player and double mint chewing gum. Allen counters with his recipe for Caesar Salad, wherein a marinated emperor is sliced neatly and garnished with Romaine lettuces, dressed with beaten egg, garlic and liquamen.
Following a deep story entitled Brain Food, they insert a recipe by M. L. McCorkle titled Bush Almondine, to be sure, a down-home recipe, better than possum: some ingredients are diced, Bush baked, not roasted, Cream of Mushroom soup, Cheney brains, canned Rove, corn flakes crushed and a generous sprinkling of sliced almonds.
In a section the editors title, Flouting the Taboo, Ellen J. Fried, in her The Depiction of Cannibalism in Advertising states, "Images of cannibalism are everywhere in our culture. It is the subject of jokes and cartoons. It is the topic of movies, both pornographic and for general audiences, books, poems and songs … and the depiction of cannibalism is also in pun-intended, alive and well." Later, Fried goes on to say in answer to why cannibalism invokes humor, "Humans tend to laugh at things that frighten them in an effort to relieve their fears."
In a parting section, Gary Allen brings us back to objectivity with a chapter he calls Strangers in the Night where he reminds us that we, as a society, have helped make fans of vampires and Dracula an ever-increasing audience. He also goes into the many meanings for the word blood in our culture and reminds us of its symbolism in Christian communion and Kosher slaughtering practices.
Just as the last forbidden cuss word may be out in the open, now there's also a new, honorable platform for writers of cannibalistic tales, and we all have a right to laugh, for we are acknowledging our very own fears and "it's okay."

Key Tips On How To Manage Your Time -- And Your Life

1. Write out anything and everything you want to do in your life
This may first seem to be a completely overwhelming and ridiculous task. However, David Allen, best selling author of Getting Things Done and time management coach to countless CEOs, has advocated doing just this process to jumpstart the time management process. The idea is that you sit down with a piece of paper or a computer and literally brainstorm everything that's on your mind that you need to do, from the smallest task awaiting you at work to your largest aspirations. For instance, your final list of hundreds of items might include everything from “do the dishes” and “change the cat-litter” to “climb Mount Everest” and “start a family.” You do this cleansing process to "clear your RAM" to make prioritizing and project planning more efficient.
Even though you may think that writing everything you need to do in your life down would probably take weeks to months, most people exhaust this list within a few hours! That's because the projects on the far horizon haven't yet been "chunked" down into smaller steps.
2. Break your list down into projects -- and identify your next step for each project
This idea of categorizing what you need to do and writing down your concrete next step for each project can vastly simplify the time management process. After all, most of the critical endeavors we undertake are multi tiered and nebulous at first. When you write an item on your list like "start a family" or "get financially organized," it's easy to be overwhelmed by the vastness of the work ahead of you. However, if you identify, for example, "get financially organized" as an independent project, you can then create a concrete next step to move forward. Consider this the "Rome wasn't built in a day" theory of time management. For instance, your next step for getting financially organized might be to “call three potential financial advisors in your area.” That's a task that can easily fit on anyone's To-Do list, and it won't take more than 30 minutes to accomplish.
3. Build a schedule that you can use.
There are literally tens of thousands of time management products and services out there. But never fear - most standard time management support systems will work for most people. The key is to evolve a system that makes sense for your needs, work schedule and life style. Try to chunk things down into near and far term categories. For instance, you might keep a weekly schedule, a monthly schedule and a long-term schedule. At the end of every month, do another “RAM clearing,” like we discussed in step one, so that you don't get clogged up with an internal monologue of "I have to do this, that, and the other thing" and end up unable to concentrate on immediate tasks.
4. To prioritize, cut ruthlessly
The key to keeping your time management system working is not to “Do" as much as you can. It's precisely the opposite. You want to "Not Do" as much as you can -- while still getting the things done that you absolutely must. Do you really need to go to your boss's son's baseball game? Is it really in your interest to compare and contrast 15 credit card offers? Choose when to choose. Otherwise, you will likely be faced with an onslaught of priority options, which can overwhelm even the most adept mind. There is no such thing as optimizing your schedule. You have to settle with what's "good enough." So how do we determine what meets that threshold of "good enough"…?
5. Begin with the end in mind
Steven R. Covey, the author of Seven Habits of Highly Effective People (among other best selling time management books), recommends that students of scheduling conduct the following experiment. Picture yourself at your funeral. All your family members and friends get up and give eulogies about you. What are they saying? What do you want to be remembered for in this world? Start with these basic principles -- these end goals -- and work backwards to build your time management system. You can live a purposeful life – but only based on principle. Time management is ultimately a tool not designed to help you win the Rat Race but to help you achieve these more meaningful ideals.
Once you have visualized what you want your life to be, work backwards to figure out the projects and priorities you need to keep in center-focus to get there. This at first may seem like a macabre and almost clinical way to approach life. But consider the alternative. If instead you allow your life to drift based on random circumstances and whim, you will likely waste a lot of your time dealing with mundanities -- without getting to indulge in the good stuff that makes us human.

Stress Free Success at Your Next Trade Show

Trade fairs and shows can be very rewarding, profitable and down-right fun, if you know what to do, and how to go about doing it. If not, they can be overwhelming and costly, to you and your firm. Before you register for that next trade show, here are some tips to help you negotiate the ins and outs, experience the ups without the downs, and enjoy yourself in general.
Know the Competition: Most trade show organizers, whether the sponsoring industry or the convention center where the trade show will be held, provides attendees with a list of exhibitors. It may be in the form of a web page, or it may come in your registration information packet. Whatever form it takes, study it carefully before you get to the trade show.
Determine your purpose in attending this trade show. If there are a lot of old names and faces, you may decide to spend your time at the show cementing those existing relationships with clients, customers or suppliers. If there are more up-and-coming or new-to-you exhibitors, you might want to spend your time at the trade show networking, getting your name out there.
Or you may decide that its time to see what is new and trendy, what the new kids on the block have to offer. If the exhibitors are a mixed bag, then you will have to decide just who would be the most profitable to spend time with on the trade show floor.
Make a Plan of Action: You have studied the exhibitors and know just who you want to see and why. Now, its time to create a schedule or plan that ensures you will fulfill your goal for the trade show. If you will be mostly cementing those long term relationships, you may want to allow yourself plenty of time for doing just that – hanging out at their booths, chatting and catching up.
Schedule long appointments, or schedule your appointments far apart, so you do not have to feel rushed with old friends and acquaintances. If you or most of the exhibitors are fairly new to the industry, you may want to spend large blocks of time just wandering the floor, getting a feel for who is who and what is what. You can schedule short appointments for meeting with those whose products and services interest you the most. You should try and schedule all your appointments, both with established clients and newcomers, before the trade show begins, so that you can be sure of getting a meeting with everyone you want or need to see while you are there.
Be Prepared: You may have the perfect plan of attack, but without the right equipment, you may be doomed for failure. Or at least sore feet. A great deal of your time on the trade show floor will be spent walking and standing. Pack and wear comfortable shows. The trade show is not the place to break in a new pair. Nor is it the place to wear that great looking but foot-crunching pair, either.
Wear comfortable clothing, too. Be sure and take a sweater or jacket, something that you slip into if the hall is too cool. Even if the show is in January, do not pack all your warmest gear, either. Crowded convention exhibit halls can get uncomfortably warm, and you do not want to show up for that important meeting drowning in perspiration. Take a notepad or mini-recorder for taking notes.
You may have a great idea on the second day of the show, but by the time you return to your office the next week, you can not remember a thing. A client may find you in the lobby and ask you for an impromptu meeting after dinner, but if you can not remember the name of the restaurant or the time he suggested, what good is it going to do you? Having some way of taking notes and jotting reminders for yourself will make your time spent at the trade show much more enjoyable and profitable.
You might want to bring a small wheeled train case, messenger bag or backpack with you. There are usually lots of marketing materials, promotional items and free samples given away at trade shows. Having some place to carry them without straining your back too much or occupying your hands for the entire show is a good idea. Some suggest that rolling cases can also create a path through crowded sections of the floor, if you push it ahead of you as you go. Other fair goers say they make it too difficult to sort through all the material gathered come the end of the day. You may want to try taking a backpack and a train case. Or take one to one show and an alternative to another to help you decide which goody-gatherer you prefer.
Be Flexible: As with your goody-gathering device, your entire mindset during the tradeshow should be one of flexibility. If a meeting does not pan out as you did hope, do not let it get you down. If a client you really hoped to see at the show had to cancel at the last minute, spend some time networking with new folks. Do not limit your entire experience to the show floor, either.
You may find groups gathered in the lobby or the hotel bar or in the restaurant across the street. While these areas may not conducive to serious business talks, they can be great opportunities to meet new people, learn a few useful facts about a new product or service, and perhaps schedule a meeting or appointment for after the trade show. While every meeting may not end in a sale, every meeting has the potential for a future meeting that may end in a sale.
Trade shows can be rewarding personally and professionally. They can be a great time to connect with others in your industry or profession. You can gain a good deal of knowledge, a good deal of business and have a good time while doing so. By being prepared before and during a show, you can avoid a great deal of stress while creating a success.
